Founded by chef Hisato Hamada, WAGYUMAFIA is a restaurant collective celebrating the unparalleled quality and versatility of Japan’s most prized ingredient—wagyu beef.
Working directly with farmers and selecting only the top 1% of Kobe and Ozaki beef, Chef Hisato champions wagyu around the world as a symbol of modern Japanese agriculture, craftsmanship, and culinary innovation.
WAGYUMAFIA was born from Hisato’s vision in 2015 and came to life with its first pop-up in Kyoto’s Gion district in March 2016. The concept—“high-end ingredients meet street food”—quickly captured global attention, leading to the WAGYUMAFIA WORLD TOUR, a 100-city culinary journey that redefined how wagyu could be experienced.
That success paved the way for WAGYUMAFIA THE BUTCHER’S KITCHEN, the brand’s first members-only restaurant and a new standard for immersive, ingredient-driven dining.
In just six years, WAGYUMAFIA has evolved from a niche concept into a global movement, now encompassing more than twenty restaurants and eight distinct brand expressions that continue to transform the way Japanese beef is celebrated worldwide.

The WAGYUMAFIA brand currently operates 24 restaurants across its brand portfolio, with member-only restaurants in Tokyo, Hong Kong and Singapore. Each outlet offers a unique concept focused on wagyu giving diners a culinary experience unlike any other.
