Founded by rockstar chef Hisato Hamada, WAGYUMAFIA showcases Japan’s finest beef through innovative dining concepts. Gaining global fame with the world’s most expensive Kobe Beef Chateaubriand Cutlet Sandwich in 2016, the brand now operates 24 restaurants, including exclusive member-only venues in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Kyoto, and Singapore, sourcing only the top 1% of Kobe and Ozaki beef.

WAGYUMAFIA is dedicated to educating consumers, restaurateurs, and suppliers on authentic Japanese wagyu, honoring the rich history and craftsmanship of Japan’s wagyu farmers.
Driven by a collaborative spirit, WAGYUMAFIA has embarked on a world tour spanning over 100 cities. WAGYUMAFIA’s distinctive style and multi-sensory culinary experiences have led to exciting collaborations include Moncler's 70th Anniversary Showcase at Milan Fashion Week (2022) and Frieze Seoul's Opening Night (2023).

Recognition
Breaking traditions and boundaries, WAGYUMAFIA’s mission to present champion-grade wagyu with pedigreed provenance to the world continues to stir intrigue and surprise with top food critics and international gourmands.
Earning a coveted spot in OAD’s (Opinionated About Dining) list of “Top 100+ Asian Restaurants” in 2018 and 2019, the brand became a global sensation after winning the bid for the world’s most expensive Kobe beef in 2016, which also held the highest fat marbling score in Kobe beef’s recorded history.
In 2024, La Liste awarded WAGYUMAFIA and Chef Hisato as one of its 2025 recipients of the La Liste SHOW-TO-TABLE SPECIAL AWARDS, recognizing establishments which blend performance with fine dining, hosting with energy, elegance and atmosphere, and crafting unique social experiences wehre theatre compliments gastronomy.

Restaurants
WAGYUMAFIA and its brands, notably MASHI NO MASHI and YAKINIKUMAFIA, currently operate 24 restaurants internationally across Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore. The first overseas outlet, WAGYUMAFIA Hong Kong, opened winter 2018.
